Crossroads Firewood Co.
FOR WOOD STOVES & FURNACES

Firewood that earns its place in your stove.

Fully cured hardwood for primary-heat households — high BTU output, low creosote, sized right for your stove.

If your wood stove or furnace heats your house, your firewood isn't an accessory. It's your utility bill. Under-cured wood produces less heat and more creosote — meaning bigger heating costs and more chimney maintenance. Crossroads supplies central Virginia households who heat with wood with fully cured premium hardwood — red oak, white oak, chestnut, and hickory — sold by the cord or by the season.

Why Crossroads

  • Premium hardwood mix — red oak, white oak, chestnut. No pine, no poplar, no soft wood that burns hot and fast then dies.
  • Sized to stove-standard lengths — predictable burn times, easier overnight loads.
  • Multi-cord delivery for households heating primarily with wood — set up for the whole season at once.
  • Volume pricing for households burning 4+ cords per season.

What you'll typically order.

Cords

A typical wood-stove household burns 3–6 cords per heating season. Furnaces heating a full house can burn 6–10+ cords.

Premium Mix by the cord. Most households take 1–3 cords at a time and restock through the season. We can also pre-position your entire season's supply at the start if you have storage.

How Wood Stoves & Furnaces Work With Us

What ordering looks like.

Wood-stove and furnace households usually start the season with 2–3 cords on hand and restock as needed. Households burning primarily for heat can pre-stage 6–10 cords in late summer for the full winter. We can deliver your entire season's supply in one drop or stagger deliveries — whichever fits your storage.

The Crossroads Difference

Why we don't compete on price.

Bargain firewood from Facebook Marketplace is usually green, under-cured, and full of pine or low-grade wood. In a wood stove, every piece of under-cured wood you burn is heat you didn't get and creosote you'll have to clean. Over a season, you pay twice — once at the moment you bought cheap, and again when your chimney needs sweeping or your stove glass blackens. Crossroads sells premium firewood for households that take their heat seriously.

Common Questions

Frequently asked.

How much firewood does a typical wood-stove household need for a heating season?

For a wood stove as supplemental heat (running evenings and weekends), plan on 2–4 cords. For primary heat heating most of the house, plan on 4–6 cords. Furnaces heating the whole house can need 6–10 cords. Use our Firewood Estimator for a personalized recommendation.

What's the moisture content of your firewood?

Our wood is air-cured for a minimum of 12 months and tests below 20% moisture content — well within the EPA-recommended range for clean, efficient burning. That matters for your heat output and your chimney maintenance.

Do you deliver multi-cord orders to my home?

Yes — multi-cord orders are delivered by dump truck or dump trailer. We can stack at delivery for an additional charge, or drop in a designated spot for you to stack yourself.

Can I get firewood pre-positioned for the full heating season?

Yes — many of our heating-season customers take their full supply in August or September while the weather is dry and prices are favorable. Lock in pricing and never worry about a polar vortex catching you short.
